Setting Up a Connection

MySQL for Outlook includes a very easy connection manager- most of the settings you should already be aware of just by using 3rd Party Software!  A connection is required before any processing can take place- so we have to establish a connection - below is a snap shot (fig 1.1) of where the connection button is-

STEP 1

 

Click the (MySQL Connect Button) and enter server information -

We need to click the Connect Button to start the connection manager - below in fig 1.2 is a picture of the connection manager open in MySQL for Outlook-

(1) - Username = Username that you assigned to your MySQL Connection

 

(2) - Password = Password that is assigned to your Connection

 

(3) - Server = MySQL Server address - (eg..localhost or myserver.server.net)

 

(4) - Port = Port Number to Access the Database (eg.3306)

 

Click the continue button after you have this information filled in...the connection manager will auto connect to your server...

 

 

 

Step 2

 

Select the Database your connection should connect to - this will be the database that contains the tables needed to Upload/Download Content...see fig 1.3

(1) - Database Selector = Sets your Database to use from the server- this will be used in all cases of Upload/Download - if you wish to change this database you will need to (disconnect) the MySQL for Outlook and Connect again- MySQL for Outlook uses only 1 Database connection at a time-

 

 

 

STEP 3

 

Connected- Congratulations - MySQL for Outlook is connected to your database and ready to go! - the disabled toolbar buttons will now become active depending on what is selected in Outlook-
